How Does WAPDA Work?
WAPDA works to generate electricity from various renewable and non-renewable resources till the electricity supply to our homes, offices, factories, etc. The common sources to generate power in Pakistan are hydro, wind, coal, diesel, and solar power. Some electricity producers are private, but the majority are government-owned in Pakistan.

Electric power is measured in watts; one watts equals one joule of energy per second. The electric power that WAPDA supplies to us is measured in units of energy known as watt hours (Wh); one watt-hour equals one watt of power used for one hour.
WAPDA plays a vital role in Pakistan’s economy by ensuring optimal power supply throughout the country. It manages a vast network with an extensive transmission network and grid systems. It also invests in renewable power generation sources to limit the country’s dependency on non-renewable power generation sources. WAPDA works 24/7 to ensure power supply and make our lives comfortable.
